Rumor: Netflix Now has Bloomington Shipping Facility

Reports are surfacing that Netflix has added a shipping facility in Bloomington, Illinois.  This is potentially good news for BloNo movie buffs who could see faster turnaround times through the off-line movie exchange service.

Brian Navarro Twitter account, one of those who spotted the new location, reports,”I just noticed yesterday that my envelope said Bloomington instead of Chicago for nearest Netflix facility.”  He added, “Woohoo!”

Questions also remain as to the reason Bloomington was selected to house a Netflix hub.  Could it be that the Twin Cities are pushing especially high demand for Arrested Development reruns and the latest Hollywood blockbusters?

Have you noticed the change on your envelopes? Anyone experiencing significantly faster turnaround times as a result?

I can confirm that I have received envelopes with a return address in Bloomington. But my old envelopes usually said Springfield, not somewhere in Chicagoland.

My friend has Netflix and has been getting Bloomington envelopes for a few months. He still gets Chicago and Springfield ones sometimes, too, though; my guess is that they don’t carry as wide a variety of content in Bloomington as they do elsewhere.

I’ve been getting some return envelopes marked Bloomington for about 6 months or so. Interestingly, when I send a disc back to Bloomington or up to Chicagoland (where the majority of my discs go) they arrive the next day. So the addition of the Bloomington facility doesn’t seem to speed up the time for me.
